"The Culinary Kid"

Remmi Smith is the 11 year old star and host of “The Culinary Kid,” a show that teaches kids that cooking healthy is fun.  The show came about when Remmi and her mother grew concerned about the childhood obesity epidemic and decided to start a healthy cooking show called “Cook Time with Remmi.” The show first aired online as webcasts in April 2009. Within a month of airing the first webcast, the show was picked up by a local cable channel in her hometown of Tulsa, OK. Shortly thereafter, she started getting requests for public appearances to demonstrate her cooking skills both locally and nationally.

With the growing interest of the show, companies approached Remmi and her mother about sponsorships which lead to the creation of her latest series, “The Culinary Kid.” In this show, Remmi is taught a cooking method, such as sautéing or braising, from well known chefs in the area and then creates a meal herself using the technique she was taught.

Remmi has been recognized as Amazing Kid of the Month with the national non-profit Amazing Kids Organization and a “Rock Star Learner” from Apple Computer.  She also won the national “Launch My Dream” which lead to the creation of her C.H.E.F. challenge, or “Cook Healthy, Exercise Frequently,” a three month challenge which kids from all over the world can sign up for.  Most recently, Remmi was featured on the US Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women's Health site as the spotlight star and on Ask, Listen, Learn as a SuperStar to show kids that cooking healthy is possible and fun.

"I’m really inspired by people who are trying to address the childhood obesity epidemic.  To correct this problem, it can take a lot of creativity and focus.  Schools and government are on board and the food and entertainment industry are working on this issue,” said Remmi.
