Our 20th Anniversary dinner last night was a success! Thank you to our member companies, partners, and community members, including our 20 People to Watch, who came out to celebrate last night. The video below is a brief overview of the progress that The Century Council has made in the past 20 years. It premiered it at the dinner last night and we are thrilled to show it to you today.
There are a number of people that helped make the night particularly special. Our President and CEO, Ralph Blackman was our host for the evening. Of utmost importance are our member companies. Without them, there would not be a Century Council. Jim Bareuther, our “Chairman Emeritus” and recently retired Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Brown-Forman, spoke on behalf of all of our member companies regarding their commitment to fighting drunk driving and underage drinking.
Part of our anniversary was about honoring people who have made a commitment to our mission, represented by our 20 People to Watch. We had four of the 20 speak as representatives for different sectors of the community. Julie Foudy, former Captain of the US Women’s Soccer Team, recent Women’s World Cup Commentator, and Founder of the Julie Foudy Sports Leadership Academy, spoke as a representative of the group of our 20 People to Watch that have a commitment to young people. Congresswoman Shelley Berkley of Nevada spoke for those of our 20 People who are committed to public policy and use the tools of government to advance solutions to the problems of drunk driving and underage drinking. Assistant Chief Patrick Burke of the DC Metropolitan Police Department spoke on behalf of our 20 People who are committed to ending drunk driving. Apolo Anton Ohno spoke on behalf of our 20 People who are dedicated to building healthy bodies and developing good habits. Congratulations to all of our 20 People to Watch. We can’t wait to see the progress that you make in the future.
