Each year, The Century Council attends and exhibits at the Lifesavers National Conference on Highway Safety Priorities. Over fifteen hundred traffic safety professionals share valuable information about what they do and learn from each other about the successes and challenges they have experienced working to keep everyone safe on America’s roadways. Since this year’s conference occurred during Alcohol Awareness Month, it was the perfect opportunity to learn what other practitioners are doing to raise awareness about drunk driving and underage drinking, and for The Century Council to share our array of programs while encouraging attendees to #JoinTheConvo!
The Century Council also featured the IKnowEverything teen driver safety program at our booth in the Exhibit Hall.
We asked conference attendees who stopped by to share with us what they know about teens and driver safety. The 200 traffic safety professionals who responded wanted teens to know not to drink alcohol and drive, how to handle four way intersections, to always keep their eyes on the road, buckle up, and not to speed. They especially wanted to remind teens that traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for those between the ages of 15 and 20, and that the only thing they should be focusing on in the car is the road and what’s around them.
Many attendees expressed the vital importance of programs like IKnowEverything that can be used by teachers, parents, law enforcement officers and driver’s educators across the country. To learn more about the nationwide launch of IKnowEverything during National Youth Traffic Safety Month this May, like the program on facebook and follow it on twitter.
We truly appreciate all of the attendees at Lifesavers who shared their valuable knowledge and expertise with us, as well as the work they do every day to keep us safe on the road.
