The Council distributes point of sales materials in Spanish. During 2006, more than 1.75 million pieces of the successful 65% Campaign were distributed to retailers nationwide.

Most recently, the Federal Trade Commission partnered with the Council to support the new "No Le Servimos A Menores" campaign. This initiative seeks to educate adults on the severe legal consequences of providing alcohol to minors. All campaign related materials are available in Spanish.

In 1994, The Century Council's public service announcement El Niño won the Best PSA award from the Hispanic Business Magazine, a leading Hispanic publication.

In May 1999, the Council launched a first-of-its kind national Hispanic Public Service Announcement (PSA) campaign in partnership with Recording Artists, Actors and Athletes Against Drunk Driving (RADD) and the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). The radio and television PSA campaign features 14 different well-known Hispanic celebrities attesting to the dangers of drinking and driving.

The campaign was kicked off at a Washington, DC press event with Edward James Olmos, the Chair of the campaign, and Grammy-nominated salsa singer La India, in attendance. U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Rodney Slater, and five members of the Hispanic Caucus also attended and spoke in support of the campaign. The NAB began distributing the television and radio PSAs nationwide in mid-September 2000, in conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month.

  • The Century Council's award-winning program Si Toma, No Maneje was the first national comprehensive effort to provide the growing Hispanic community with culturally sensitive messages about the dangers of drunk driving and illegal underage drinking, in Spanish.

A solid foundation of public and private partnerships in states with a significant Hispanic population has allowed the Council to continue developing programs to better serve the Hispanic community.

  • La Promesa, a designated driver pledge created in partnership with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles has reached out to more than one million Hispanics nationwide.
  • In 1998, The Century Council introduced Sin Rodeos: hablando con los niños sobre el alcohol, a Spanish version developed in partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District of its program for middle-school-age kids, Ready or Not: Talking with Kids About Alcohol.

  • The Blood Alcohol Educator is an educational credit card sized CD-ROM program for adults which is available in English and Spanish. The Blood Alcohol Educator (BAE) is an interactive CD-ROM that educates the user on how their personal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) level rises based on their gender, weight and number and type of drink. Once in the program's "virtual bar", the user can select from a variety of drinks to determine their BAC level and a clock calculates how long it will take for the user's BAC level to return to normal.   visit the website»
