Washington, DC —  The 2006 Monitoring the Future Survey, released today, noted there was a significant decrease in lifetime and past year alcohol consumption among 12th graders from 2005.

Additionally, a special analysis for ONDCP revealed a significant 13% decrease in past month alcohol consumption among 8th, 10th and 12th grades combined from 35.7% in 2001 to 31.1% in 2006.

Recognizing the importance of this issue and that more needs to be done, The Century Council, a national not-for-profit organization funded by America's leading distillers, works continuously with private and public organizations across the country to provide resources to fight underage drinking. We believe programs such as Brandon Tells His Story; Ask, Listen, Learn; Girl Talk: Choices and Consequences of Underage Drinking, our latest "We Don't Serve Teens" campaign, and others have contributed to the decline in underage drinking.
