B4UDrink Awareness

December 2008

The statistics above are disturbing – to say the least. The Century Council, together with the Congressional Stop DUI Caucus, hosted its annual holiday event to address drunk driving and BAC awareness yesterday on Capitol Hill. With the help of B4UDrink’s Virtual Bar and some Fatal Vision Goggles, we helped our audience to better understand the ways that alcohol affects individuals.

Sixth Annual Congressional Awards Reception

July 2008

In July, The Century Council hosted its sixth annual Congressional Awards reception on Capitol Hill where we awarded 37 Members of Congress for their ongoing dedication to fighting drunk driving and underage drinking. Understanding the scope of this national problem, this year's award recipients joined us to help educate youth and their parents from middle school all the way up to college-aged students about responsible decision-making concerning beverage alcohol. Some Members launched our initiatives in their district, others signed onto the Council-supported HR 4453 (The Underage Drinking Prevention Act), and several Members did both. A complete list of award recipients can be found here.

Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day

April 24, 2008

We teamed up with Nickelodeon and best-selling author Dr. Anthony Wolf to host an event on Capitol Hill for Members of Congress and their sons and daughters. The event focused on raising teenagers in today's society and improving communication between parents and children. Donna Sabino, Nickelodeon Magazine Group's Vice President of Strategic Development, delivered a multi-media presentation on children ages 13 and under and their preferences. Dr. Wolf spoke about many of the topics covered in his parenting book "Get out of my life but first could you drive me and Cheryl to the mall? A Guide to the New Teenager."
