Have you talked with them about drinking in college?

The misuse of alcohol by underage students and by students over 21 remains a problem in spite of laws, campus policies, and college programs. We encourage parents of incoming freshman to have a discussion about underage drinking with their teen not only before they leave for school, but also throughout the school year.

Parents, You’re Not Done Yet is a brochure created and distributed by The Century Council designed to help parents discuss the risks associated with underage drinking in college with their teens. We have distributed more than four million brochures to over 1,300 colleges and universities in the United States while countless more have been downloaded from our website.

College and university administrators estimate alcohol is involved with:

  • 30% of dropouts
  • 36% of academic failures
  • 60% of violent behaviors
  • 64% of unsafe sexual practices
  • 70% of acquaintance rapes
